Fr Jose Changanacherry’s installation as the new Provincial took place on 24 June during the Holy Eucharist held at Premal Jyoti, Ahmedabad. A good number of Jesuits represents parts if the province were present. The outgoing provincial Fr Keith Abranches expressed his gratitude to everyone in the province. Fr Changa, who shoulders this responsibility for the second time – he was provincial from 1989 to 1995, in a plain-speaking homily, shared the challenges and concerns that face him. He insisted that everyone in the province must contribute his best to the effective ministry and growth of the province

News From De Nobili Pune -- Anoob

De Nobili College, Pune.
We have begun well our academic year in De Nobili with the annual retreat directed by Fr. Kulandai of Andhra Province. The Bishop of Pune Rt. Rev. Thomas Dabre celebrated the inaugural Eucharist in Jnana Deepa Vidhyapith. Schs. Nilesh and Michael along with Fr. Jacob Kulangara gave us a warm welcome to the first year philosophers. This year onwards JDV in collaboration with IGNOU is organizing a course in M.A. Philosophy. So we are fortunate to obtain a M.A from IGNOU along with the B.Ph form JDV. Many of us have opted to go ahead with the M.A programme. De Nobili and JDV are also providing very many courses during this academic year. Some of us are attending various language courses such as French, Spanish and various other courses like Yoga and Karate. The weather is pleasant here in Pune. So far, we have got only very few showers, we hope that God will send very many showers and above all a plentiful showers of blessings for every one this year.

Fr Lawrance,
I finally got the time to watch your DVD, and I enjoyed it very much. It reminded me of several aspects of my life, in particular, of how much my Jesuit training (high school and university) has completely affected and directed my life. Even after almost 50 years. Maybe the many Jesuit retreats have helped me. Some years I forget my training. I never leave the companionship of Jesus, but sometimes I'm not as close to Him as I would like. Your DVD reminded me of much that I have learned in the past from the Jesuits.
Did I ask you whether you ever know Anthony De Mello, S.J., also from India? He was one of my favorite authors and speakers.
