This
prayer of review is a short reflection back over the day. Recalling events and
taking note of your feelings. The purpose is to become more aware of the
ways in which God has been present to you. The times when the Holy Spirit was
drawing you towards life.

St. Mother Teresa
![]() |
She wasn't a quiet, passive young woman. As a missionary sister, she was determined, energetic, even a little stubborn. God didn't erase that fire in her. He redirected it. On a train to Darjeeling in 1946, she heard what she would later call her "call within a call" — an invitation to leave the security of convent life behind and go find Christ in the streets, among people everyone else had learned to walk past. That call became the Missionaries of Charity.
Here is the part of her story that unsettles people most. For nearly fifty years, she felt almost nothing of God's presence. Darkness. Silence. And she kept going anyway — feeding, bathing, sitting with the dying, praying prayers that seemed to hit a closed door. Her holiness wasn't built on warm feelings. It was built on showing up.
That's the hard lesson buried in her life. Sainthood doesn't require feeling close to God. Sometimes it just means staying faithful when God feels absent entirely.
She also proved that love isn't abstract. It needs hands that actually do something — a will that's been surrendered, a discipline that doesn't quit when it's inconvenient. She took her own suffering and turned it into service for people the world had already given up on. Her life says something simple and hard: God works through weakness, through silence, through the moments we'd rather skip — as long as we keep saying yes.

Mary: The Prototype and Path of Biblical Discipleship - The Queenship
Mary, the Mother of Jesus, is presented in this text as the perfect model of a Christian disciple.
Mary shows us that holiness is not mainly about doing great things. It begins with who we are before God. At the Annunciation, Mary was humble, simple, and open to God. When the angel announced God’s plan, she asked questions, but finally she said, “I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word.” Her yes became an example of complete trust in God.
Mary also lived many of Jesus’ teachings even before Jesus publicly preached them. She was poor in spirit, pure in heart, humble, compassionate, faithful, and ready to serve. Like the good soil in the Parable of the Sower, she received God’s Word and allowed it to bear fruit in her life. She also remained faithful through suffering, especially at the foot of the Cross. In this way, Mary shows us what it means to share deeply in the life and suffering of Christ.
The Gospels record five important occasions when Mary speaks, and each message contains a lesson for disciples today.
First, “How can this be?” teaches us that we do not always understand God’s plan. We can bring our questions to God while continuing to trust Him.
Second, “Let it be done to me according to your word” teaches us courageous surrender. Faith means saying yes to God even when the future is uncertain.
Third, in the Magnificat, Mary praises God and announces that He lifts up the humble, feeds the hungry, and challenges human pride and injustice. She teaches us gratitude and concern for the poor.
Fourth, “Son, why have you treated us like this?” reveals Mary’s experience of pain and anxiety. She becomes a companion to all who suffer, especially mothers and children who experience loss, violence, or injustice.
Finally, at Cana, Mary says, “Do whatever he tells you.” These are her last recorded words in Scripture. They summarize her entire message: listen to Jesus and put His words into action.
Therefore, Mary teaches us that true discipleship means listening, trusting, surrendering, serving, suffering with Christ, and obeying His word. To become like Mary is to make room for Jesus to live and act in us. Her life invites every Christian to say, in daily life, “Yes, Lord, let your will be done in me.”

St. Dominic: A Man of Prayer, Truth and Service
He spent long hours in prayer and developed a deep relationship with Jesus. At the same time, he studied the Word of God carefully so that he could preach the truth clearly and guide people in the right path. His life united contemplation and action. He prayed deeply, but he also went out to preach, teach, and help people who were confused or had lost their faith.
St. Dominic founded a religious community where members lived as brothers, prayed together, studied together, and served the Church. His famous spirit can be expressed in the words: “To contemplate and to share with others the fruits of contemplation.”
St. Dominic also had great love for the Blessed Virgin Mary and encouraged devotion to her. His life reminds priests and all Christians that their mission is to lead people closer to Christ and toward eternal life. Even today, St. Dominic inspires us to seek truth, live faithfully, pray sincerely, and serve others with love.

As a priest, St. John Vianney gave himself completely to the people entrusted to his care. He had a special love for the Sacrament of Confession. He spent many long hours listening patiently to people, understanding their struggles, and helping them experience God’s mercy and forgiveness. People came to him from many places because they felt that he truly cared for them and led them closer to God.
St. John Vianney did not depend only on knowledge or learning. He listened deeply to God and allowed the Holy Spirit to guide his life. He accepted sacrifices willingly and lived simply. His whole life became a service to others. He was truly a “man for others,” because he gave his time, energy, love, and even his health for the good of the people.
His life gives an important message to priests, religious, teachers, and spiritual leaders today. Education and knowledge are valuable, but they must be joined with compassion, humility, prayer, and a caring heart. We are called not only to teach people but also to understand their pain and carry their burdens. Like St. John Vianney, we are invited to depend on God’s grace and become instruments of His mercy and love.

(The Examen: Finding God in the Theatre of the Everyday)
(The Examen: Finding God in the Theatre of the Everyday)

Episode 16.The final years and death of St. Ignatius of Loyola
After his death, an autopsy revealed that Ignatius had lived for many years with serious physical pain. Yet he did not make his suffering the centre of his life. He preferred to remain close to people, to share their lives, and even to enjoy good-natured laughter. His greatness was not found in presenting himself as a suffering hero, but in quietly carrying his pain while continuing to serve God and others.
The legacy of Ignatius was truly remarkable. When he began the Society of Jesus, he was part of a small group of companions. But by the time of his canonization, this small group had grown into a worldwide religious family with thousands of members.
Ignatius was a man of deep prayer, strong leadership, and extraordinary spiritual vision. At the same time, he was gentle, approachable, and deeply human. His influence came not only from his great ideas and achievements, but also from his humble and loving personality. His life reminds us that true greatness can be quiet, gentle, and deeply human.

Episode 15. Ignatius - a wise and loving leader
As more companions joined him, they formed the Society of Jesus. In 1541, the companions unanimously chose Ignatius to become their first Superior General. Although he was honoured, Ignatius was humble and did not want power or importance. After much prayer, he accepted the responsibility because he believed it was God's will.
Ignatius became a wise and loving leader. He carefully wrote the Jesuit Constitutions, which guided the members in prayer, community life, mission, and service. These rules helped the Society of Jesus remain united even as it continued to grow.
One of Ignatius' greatest strengths was communication. He regularly wrote letters to Jesuits serving in different parts of the world. Through these letters, he encouraged them, gave advice, and kept them united in their mission.
Under his leadership, the Jesuits started schools, colleges, and missions in many countries. They respected local cultures, learned new languages, and shared the Gospel with wisdom and kindness. They believed that education and faith could transform lives.
The life of Saint Ignatius teaches us that true leadership is not about power but about humble service. His trust in God, careful planning, and love for people continue to inspire the Church and millions of people around the world today.
