The life sketch of Bro.Felipe Lazarralde


Bro.Felipe Lazarralde was born in Guipuco, Basque country, Spain on 19 November 1925. He belonged to a middle-class pastoral family known for its deep faith, rich family traditions and loyalty to the nation. As a youth, he came in contact with the Salesians of Don Bosco. He entered the society of Jesus on 29 March, 1944 at Loyola, Spain. After the novitiate. He followed the formal training in arts, crafts, mechanical and electrical skills. He was a dedicated religious and a perfectionist at work. Though outwardly he appeared to be serious, he could give a genial smile when needed.
In Christmas 1951. Br.Felipe arrived in St.Xavier’s school, Anand, Gujarat. He spent three years in the general maintenance work connected with the school, residence, church etc. In the mean time, he learnt Basic English and Gujarati and adjusted himself to the local customs. In 1955, he was transferred to St.Mary’s school Nadiad. He was assigned to take care of the boarding and the general maintenance work. In 1959, Br. Felipe was transferred to Rosary School, Baroda, Gujarat. Till his retirement he served tirelessly, doing a fine job, winning many friends. Spreading around in his humble ways the message of peace and love of God in season and out of season.

Br.Felipe was a man who brought up a high standard in sports and games at the school level as well as at the district level. He was an authority in this field. He had been in several organizing committees for sports and games for several years. He had been honored with several awards and received many citations for his dedication in this field of sports and games.
